Open Question: Christians, please help!?
Okay, I’m not trying to say that my mother’s convictions are wrong, but I feel that maybe she’s going off the deep end.

She is at a point in her life where she refuses to take joy in things because she feels that they are somehow a sin.

For example, texting. She had an opportunity to get a smart phone with texting and FaceTime capabilities, but she REFUSED because she thinks somehow, it’s wrong. I text and FaceTime my sister all the time and without it, it would be very hard to stay connected.

How can I convince my mom that it’s okay to take joy in certain things in life? It’s really come down to the fact that she feels she isn’t being a true Christian unless she is constantly serving other people and 100% denying any joy to herself. I know that the apostle Paul says to know Jesus we need to “pick up our crosses” but I don’t think she would be a “bad” Christian if she took a breath to enjoy certain things in life. I mean, one of the fruits of the spirit is Joy! She just refuses to allow anything to make her happy for fear she might either be a bad Christian or a poor witness to others.

We can’t get her to take a vacation, to let us buy clothes for her, to let us use technology with her…..she just thinks that everything is a sin.

Are there any Bible verses that can help me convince her that it’s okay to live in the world and not be of the world?

Open Question: Why do iPhones have such limited capabilities?
Compared to android deviced like Samsung, HTC etc, they are worlds apart in terms of what you can actually do. Even in terms of hardware and specs i mean common when are they going to upgrade that pathetic 3.5 inch attempt at a screen? Dont get me started on iOS. Basically just a grid with squares on it with no customization what so ever. The only reason it sells is because of the trademark apple. Anything that they put an “i” infront of the stupid isheep customers will buy, even though they have no idea how pathetic it is for the price compared to “real” smartphones.

A simple task like transferring files between your computer and your phone without using itunes, converting file formats etc. How about flash for the browser? How about downloading files from the browser? How about having an actual file browser on the phone? How about 4g speeds? i can go on forever.

Open Question: iPhone “no service” issue. Why?
Hi!
A few months ago i noticed my iphone 3GS was having trouble finding a good signal, but it looked benign.Ever since, over a few weeks, the whole thing went downhill until getting absolutely no signal. Everything else works flawlessly though. So because the problem came up little by little, i figured it had to be hardware (Besides, i restored the firmware and all through itunes).

After having read many threads about this issue, i popped open my iphone in order to check if anything seemed abnormal (Connections, super-micro inductors, etc..). Nothing – no superficial damage whatsoever.
So then i though it might be the sim card ; But it worked in another phone.

I eventually bought a new dock connector which contains the antenna (so i was told), fitted it in – But still, NOTHING.

So basically im just wondering if any of you guys had advice concerning my issue, from your own experience, or if you knew what other components are involved in the phone’s cellular connection so i can give it a deep and thorough look.

Voting Question: iPhone – how to connect to internet without wifi (via 3g)?
I recently had to restore my iPhone and, in doing so, it’s stopped being able to connect to the internet without wifi connection.

When I first used my phone (I bought if off a friend) and put my sim in I received a text with the info I needed to set it up to connect to the internet without wifi, however I obviously don’t have this text anymore and am struggling to find the info on the internet.

My phone likes to inform me that it can’t connect to ‘cellular data network’ a fair few times a day also…

Any advice? Really don’t want to be dealing with ringing customer services!

I managed to fix this myself, found the code info online & uninstalled & reinstalled all my internet based apps to get them to work on the internet also – genius!

Resolved Question: New Computer won’t connect to internet?
I just bought a new desktop today. The desktop, a HP p6130y, has built in Wireless. I have 3 laptops, 1 desktop, and 2 xbox 360’s connected to my wireless network.

This new desktop just won’t connect to my network for anything. When I set up a wireless hotspot on my phone, it connects just fine and I can browse at (very) slow speeds using cellular data.

Any help on connecting this stubborn bull? 10 points to who ever helps if you can also tell me how to give points

So my mom had a 3g with AT&T for a 2 year contract. We have all upgraded our phones recently at the same time. Am i able to use her iphone 3gs as a phone without eing charged extra for using a smartphone? I have been using the iphone recently and i made some adjustments. I have jailbroken this iphone and turned off the cellular data and the 3g. I an ok with only using wifi to use the internet. We have unlimited messaging and unlimited web. Am i able to use the iphone 3gs as a regular phone while my sim card is installed?

Open Question: How do I get Cellular Data Network if my iPhone 3GS isn’t jailbroken?
I have an iPhone 3GS that’s bearly a year old and it has worked great! I’ve had ZERO problems with it! Only recently when I try to send pictures it will not send them anymore. It keeps saying “Message Send Failure.” Whereas before it sent them through everytime! I’m always backing my phone up and updating it whenever updates come available so its software is pretty new, give or take 2 or 3 months. Now I’ve always heard that the only way an iPhone can send pictures is if you have 3G in your area. I don’t have 3G as I live in VERY rural area, which we are supposed to be getting it at the end of the year.(Fingers crossed!!) But, I’ve always been able to send pictures before without having 3G before. I’m not qute sure what it means, but there is an ‘E’ at the top of the screen on my iPhone. Maybe someone could tell me what that means. So I’ve been looking on the internet trying to find out why and everything I keep reading says something about going to my Setting, then to General, then to Network and turning Cellular Data Network on…Well I don’t have that option. All I have is Enable 3G, Cellular Data, Data Roaming and the Personal Hot Spot option. What do I do? Can that be fixed without having to jailbreak my phone? I’m not that savvy when it comes to all the techno stuff out there but I can follow along pretty good if the directions are clear. So if someone out there can help me with this I’d be very greatful! I know this is a pretty long question but I’m a very detailed person and I can’t help it sometimes! :-/ Anyway, other stuff I found googling info on this said something about Cydia or something like that. I’d really like to get my phone to start sending pics again and if at all possible if I can figure out how to jailbreak my iPhone and get the ability to use my iPhone as internet for my laptop that would be great! I’m always interested in more ideas and new things! Thanks!!

Hi!!

I traveled abroad for work purposes a couple of years ago and whilst away I’ve been in touch with my ex girlfriend. We managed to stay in contact with each other despite the distance and end of our relationship. Due to our calls (she never used email) we developed a very special friendship, something that is truly honest and genuine, as if we were children who are best of friends.

But, before coming back home, I lost contact with her. All of a sudden her cell phone goes straight to voicemail and there is no reply to my SMS’. I tried calling home (she lives with her parents) and they say “Shes not here”.
When I insisted (fourth call) they said “She no longer lives here and we cannot give you her number or any more information”.

They obviously don’t want me calling her and it hurts me very much. I’ve just come back, we were going to have a cafe, see each other and talk for hours and now….its like shes disappeared! I asked her cousin for information and she firmly said “I wont contact her for you and ask you desist”. What’s wrong!?

I’ve asked friends (what are friends for?) for help but no one wants to help.

I cant walk up to her door and ring the bell, her mother HATES me (she is one of those women who are ultra possessive and manipulative) and my family is non supportive about anything. So….

What should I do!? I’m desperate, she cant contact me and I her. The last time I called she was very happy to know I was coming back and eager to see me….I don’t understand this situation.

Any suggestions? Should I have a friend call her house under some pretext or fake my voice and call her myself? Im willing to diguise myself as a pizza boy if necessary!

Open Question: Undercover cop did a lot of illegal things!?
So I noticed there was an undercover cop parked outside of my house as I was driving one of my friends home and when I got back to my house my other friend told me the car came very close to my house and drove off so I went to take a closer look with my car and I noticed the undercover cop car took off flying through my subdivision so I decided to follow and was about to call the police to report the undercover car so I turned my lights off as I was turning and somehow the cop took another street and ended up behind me and pulled me over it was very obvious that this cop was watching my house I didn’t have my liscence on me so he cuffed me and searched my vehicle and was asking me very personal questions” cell phone number, social security number, etc.” He then issued me a misdemeanor ticket for no ops possession and improper use of headlights. This officer clearly knew that I noticed him watching my house he didn’t stop at the stop sign near my house he just took off. What should I do about this? Btw I’m 17 yrs old and I don’t know if its even legal for an officer to ask minors for information like that!

Open Question: Why is my wife mad at me? 10 points?
Ok here’s a story about my wife. My wife and I are currently separated. I haven’t saw her in about a week in a half. As far as I know she move to Florida with her parents.We had a been separated for about three months but we both agreed to reconcile and get back together when all our financial situation was right. During this time she was staying with her aunt. Towards the end before her aunt kicked me out she started to disapprove of me and tried to convience her niece against me.

My wife and I have had domestic problems.WE argued alot .At one point I hit her once and she filed a restraining order on me which led to our separation since then we have been trying to reconcile but hadn’t been living together since. Recently in the last month my wife have taking me out to dinner, brought me to the beach and proposed to me in the sand with a ring, went to bars and chill out and just two days before the last time I saw her she bought me a build a bear that says “I love you” when you squeeze it with her voice recorded in it. She had just hot a brand new job as a assistant manager in one of her favorite stores, so she was very happy about that

Two Sundays ago I bought my wife a phone and since then it seem like everythnig went down here from there. She gave her parents her numbers and since her parents don’t like me and disapprove of our relationship they have been trying to destroy my wife and I marriage for over a year. Well, Thursady of that same week.My wife and I had a huge argument. Since her aunt kicked her out she was staying in a hotel I was paying for her anyway the argument was about the car which is in both orf our name. She felt like I was entitled to a spare key so we argue till it lead us to the police station. At the police station she called her parents who then came all the way from Flordia.This was the last time I saw or spoke to her

The next day her father text me to come get the car at her sister and when I got there he changed his mind and threathen to call the cops if I didn’t leave. On Monday I called the finace company and find found out she had the car voluntary repossed. Now her and my credit is messed up for atleast 7 years. When I tried calling for her her parents threathen to call the cops again on me and told me not to call them again. A couple of night I saw she recently created a facebook page using her maiden name and her relationship status as “seperated”.It seem like she stay up late in to the morning like until 2am on the computer. I never told her to give up everything she had and go live with her parents in a different state.

Why is she mad at me?

this is going to be quite long.. And any one reading this: i prefer serious answers and it would b nice if u could have a look to this Q. again after 2-3 days.

…im a married young housewife who is in her early 20’s (22).
My marriage was a love marriage.
i got married to the man i loved with a month before i turnd 19yrs old.
he was 25 by that time.
We got married after a 3-4month relationship.
as his parents didnt believe in engagements and as my husband was supposed to fly on a trip with his brother and sister in law, i got married in a hurry, so that i could fly with them.

even thou my husband is rich he told me on my honeymoon that he was sorry, but couldnt but me anything. I didnt ask for anything but he kept telling me this, but was looking forwrd to buy a new phone on our honeymoon.
after months passed i realized that he would hardly buy me anything and seize me my money which i used to get from my dad in law. He’d only buy me a facewash and face cream.
I was still ok with it. On my birthday there weee bo presents. I was ok with it. On Eid he didnt buy any clothes or gave me any money. I still kept my silence and patience. My mum in law bought me only one sari coz of her reputation towards ppl.
my parents were sitting back in france with not knowing what was going on.
after a time it got worse, he started shouting at me about every mistake and silly mistakes i did. My in laws took the oppurtunity and would mentally pressurize me. I still tried my best to satisfy everyone by keeping my mouth shutt.
Once, i broke a glass and thats how my marriage got worse:
My husband slapped me. I cried, kept quite and my beo in law shouted at him n over!
from that day slapping me was common.
but i told my self he’d change and thought it was my fault and he had eeasons to slap me.
Months later those slaps turned into violent beating up and i kept tolerating, until we went to visit my parents in versai (france).
At nights my parents, sometimes heard us fighting and suspected, that i was being beaten up, which i later came to know through my sister. One day asked him if i could finish my Alevels, when my dad came to the uk. my dad got me into a college in the uk. However, my mun in law was against it.
One day my husband asked me to stopp college with no reason and i asked why? And told him that i just wanted to graduate as i was the youngest daughter in my dads household and that he really wanted me to finish college atleast. -btw: before i got married my dad and i asked my father in law if i wad allowed to finish college and my husband and his dad gave us their word.-

That day my husband was slapping me violently by taking me to a corner of a shop in a public place. Another day he hit me against the wall of a house bwcause i wanted to talk to him about the pressure-risings of his family and mental torture.
I couldnt tolerate all this anymore and told my dad about ev.thing when i went to baq home again (versai). My dad kept me in versai and went to the uk to ralk to my inlaws and husband.
they gave up and admitted to their mistakes. And they fear a divorce anyway, as one of my bro in laws was divorced anyway.
they later changed a little -wht to expect from asian in laws anyway?- bur they changed. Except for my husband.
who got more violent on me after this. Now he would fight with me and beat me up more, the reason was: why i ever told my family about the abuse.
The beating had a stop for 6-7 months. But there were still fights.
i kept quite thinking of changing him by not telling.

But every now and than when we engage in little fights he’d start talkin biut my dad and hit me a little or slightly. I kept quite until the day before yesterday!
I told hin frank nd jokingly that: when i buy things its a crime and when he does ita not. I also told him about my sis in law and bro in law hw gud their undestanding was. But again my dad was in between.
And this time i didn keep my mouth shutt infront of him. It took me 3yrs to open up -but- my husband git extreme. He took a large meat knife and said he’d cut his trought off or cur mine and i was the one to choose. If he’d harm himself, he’d blame me for it. I ringed my dad in law he came upstairs to my apartment and yes, i got full support from him. & now am thnkn of dvorce! I cnt nymore! But my dad is against it….

Resolved Question: New Computer won’t connect to internet?
I just bought a new desktop today. The desktop, a HP p6130y, has built in Wireless. I have 3 laptops, 1 desktop, and 2 xbox 360’s connected to my wireless network.

This new desktop just won’t connect to my network for anything. When I set up a wireless hotspot on my phone, it connects just fine and I can browse at (very) slow speeds using cellular data.

Any help on connecting this stubborn bull? 10 points to who ever helps if you can also tell me how to give points

Resolved Question: how did the 3 companies that dominated the landline market come to dominate the cellphone market?
Its crazy because before cellphones were around there was these 3 companies (Sprint/Verizon/at&t) if you got a land line bill it was probably from one of those 3. 10-15 years ago when the cellphone market was exploding we had a lot of smaller companies. I can tell you that I had a contract with a local company called cellular one which was bought out by alltel (another extinct company) and when that was bought out I was a verizon customer wondering what the heck happened. Even T mobile which can really be considered the last cellphone exclusive company in the big 4 might be bought out by att. if you think about it at&t which was first called Bell telephone company was named after the inventor of the phone in the 1800s, amazing how long they are holding on. what gave these traditional landline companies an edge over their competition?

Open Question: AM I being selfish towards my sister?
I’m working part time and paying bills ( Water, Comcast, Cellphone) monthly, I also try and buy groceries for the house I can only afford a little since I’m working 25 hours a week. My sister works full time and won’t purchase any food for the house, so I’m stuck with paying. So I disconnected her from my internet since she won’t purchase any food. I can’t afford to spend $40.00 a week on food. Her boyfriend stays in our house and uses our bathroom, and eats our food and he doesn’t pay at all. Am I being selfish for turning off the wifi? BTW she gets anything her boyfriend want’s even though he doesn’t have a job.

Open Question: What should I choose for my award?
Ok so my dad said if I get all straight A’s this quarter he’ll either buy me a: 1. cellphone, 2. ipod touch, or 3. Kindle fire. now with the cell I would only get talk and text. Open Question: I don’t understand my mom..she is controlling me?
she gets mad about everything i do..How she controls me? hmmm where do i start… How about when i was 12. My classmates and friends at that age can already hang, watch movies and chill out. But whenever i ask for permission, she always says NO. I know that time she is protecting me because something bad might happen (you know bad world out there). But i keep on having the respond “NO” until now! i’m 16! Even times like i wanna go to my neighbor’s house (50 steps away) she wouldn’t allow me. There was once a time just a month ago, i had this chewy candy (cant remember the name) it was imported. My Good friend gave it to me. That time we were walking and i cant see any trash bins so i kept the wrapper in my pocket. after couple of days my mom just SCREEEEAMED calling me. she ask what was i eating. “dont you know it contains drugs?”..Im just stand there and gave her a are-u-joking? look. she said “U crazy stupid boy! its in the news! where u got this blabla”…i ran into my room and cried. ..I will never take drugs! NEVER. I cried because how could she make a thought about me using drugs? she doesn’t trust me. From this happening i wasn’t able to go out even a little chat with my friends. I always lie to her whenever i hang out. Like “why are you late?”..”i was on a group project mom sorry”…lies lies lies, i always don’t ask for permission because i know her answer is always “NO”. and just an hour ago, i was watching a vid about dog slaughtery. chinese women protetested then blablabla. I got angry from those criminals. then i remember i need to ask mom a little money for cellphone load (20pesos) because my friends kept on texting me why i dont msg them back, dont wanna hurt their feelings. (i dont have much money because she always make sure that i have enough like she calculates my expenses like blabla pesos for fare, food etc. so i always dont have extra. and if there is extra, she gets it) when i got to her “mom can i ask for 20?” ..”WHY ARE YOU MAD? YOU COMMING AT ME ASKING FOR MONEY AND YOU’RE MAD?!”…..mygad! my face was just a straight face or poker face with a little wrinkle on my forehead (due to extreme anger on the vid i saw about dogs)..i was so mad i ran into my room. That day she also gave my cousin MY bag. im not mad becoz she gave her my bag. I was just mad that she didnt ask my permission! i bought it with my saved money..she could a bag! why mine!?… its like shes the reason i commit a sin just for me to be happy even though there is nothing wrong about me being happy. Someday, when ill have kids..i will let them hang out anywhere! (tehy are limitations) but if there is nothing wrong..sure! go have fun beeing a teenager..its only once (so sad..its only once..) i will let them enjoy every second of it. i will not control their lives! i want them too be happy.. i dont want them to experience what i have been experiencing…i’ll be a good father..i know i can..

Open Question: Cellular Signal on ipod touch?
i have a jailbroken ipod touch and i wanna be able to text from it. literally text. as in not free. what i want is for my ipod touch to able to connect to my phone, use its signal, and text via the line in my cellphone

Open Question: No cellular data netwrk option?
I have Vodafone mobile service, phone is not jailbroken… I went to unlockit.co.nz n installed an apn profile, after realizing it erased Cellular Data Network settings tab along with my ability to use internet.. i deleted the profile but i still have no CDN tab so i have no internet! wot to do??

Open Question: California Cell Phone Ticket, while parked?
I was sitting in the front seat of my friend’s car waiting for him to get some things from a local sports shop, when a police officer pulled alongside the car. At the time the car was parked, but the engine was on and the A/C was running, but the gear was in Park. I use using my cell phone at the moment and was in the middle of a call.

The officer knocked on my window in which I hung up and lowered the window. He ask for my license and registration, like that of an actual ticket. I asked him why, and he said you cannot use a cell phone while in the driver’s seat of a running car. I told him it wasn’t my car, which he promptly asked to see my driver’s license.

I told him the car was in park and I had no intention of driving, and even showed him my gearshift and parking brake, but he said no matter and threatened to “increase” the fine if I gave him more trouble. I showed him my license and he went back to his car to write me up. I couldn’t believe it!

A few moments later, he came back and handed me back my license and my citation, which he said after “sorry, the state needs money.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? What type of statement is that? He make sure to warn me not to use my cellphone in the driver’s seat of a running car and drove off, and my friend came back and now he’s mad because it will be charged to his car.

Now I’m asking all the lawyers or those knowledgeable of CA law, but what I was doing, was it legal? Is it legal to use a cellular device while parked in a parking lot, with the gearshift on park and parking brake engaged? If it is, I might challenge this in court, but if not, I won’t be wasting my time. Thank you!
