Open Question: Why wont my NETGEAR router work with my Netcomm?
Hey, I recently switched ISP’s (Bigpond to TPG, ADSL to ADSL2+), I had to buy a new modem from there website, i thought it was a modem/router all in one but it wasn’t. So anyways, it used to be able to work, i’d connect the line cable to the phone socket and the yellow cable to hole 1 and put it to the hole in the router, and the blue cable in socket 1 to my computer (my parents use the computer). And the wireless worked fine, but now all of a sudden it wont work, so right now im using an ethernet cable in socket 2 in the netcomm connected to my laptop.
I have a NETGEAR WGR614v7 and a NetComm NB6Plus4.

Open Question: Why aren’t I getting the speeds I should from my router?
Im with O2 Broadband, and using their Thomson TG585 v7 wireless router. On the router’s config page it states that my downstream is 512kbps (my area sucks, 0.5meg – around 2 miles from the exchange), but upon doing a line speed test via various websites (mybroadbandspeed.co.uk, speedtest.net etc) I’m only getting around 230kbps…on Thursday it went as low as 75kbps!!!!!.
I’ve checked all the filters on the phone sockets, even bought 5 new new ones which was a tad costly!! I live in an old house as well, which means I don’t have a BT master socket (don’t fancy a call out charge of £160 from BT to sort it out either).
Im on the 02 unlimited Home Access package, because our area isnt covered by the O2 network so it rents a line from BT.
What could it be that’s affecting my speeds? Seeing as the router states that it kicks out 512kbps…why am I only getting around 230kbps???
