Open Question: I am having problems with a school bus driver?
Why is it our bus drivers think they have more authority over our children than a teacher does???
I have had many complaints that i have brought to the school boards attention over a bis driver bullying the kids on her route. She thinks she has a right to touch them. for instance she has banned Silly Bandz from her bus, not a school ban, just the bus. So she had taken it upon her self to grab my daughters arm and remove her bracelet which by the way was not a silly band it was a regular rubber bracelet. That she grabbed her arm and removed from her wrist and informed her she would be given it back at the end of the day. She is also know searching every child as they enter onto her bus makeing them pull their sleeves up to check for silly bandz. My son did that the first time she asks then i informed him he dont need to do it again for her and when he was asked by her the following morning again ( after clearly not having none on the day before) he refused poolitely and she pointed to the bus door, and had gotten off the bus. I have had previous contacts with her supervisor over other issues as her hitting her brakes in teh middle of the road, at green lights all becasue a child has a cell phone out. she does not allow the use of any electronics on her bus at all or she takes them away, as far as stoppin in teh middle of the rd and walking to the child to remove the electrionic in their hands and if they put it in their bag she will dump over bag and take the item. She is the safety hazard to our kids why can the school board not see that after all im not the only parent who has had complaints over her bus authority. I have spoken to several other parents who have had complaints made also and yet nothing has been done…. Why ?? I have left messages with her supervisor and even had a meeting with him and still got nothing accomplished was told my daughter was a liar about her touching my daughter, and because the video on the bus only gets a picture of my daughters shoulders up she is lieing about the situation.. We are talking about a 6th grader who is a Straight A honor roll student on the National Beta Club, plays sports, why would she lie?? I have even gone over his head now to his supervisor and dont get an email or phone call returned. I am a livid parent over this. To be told their are no policy guidelines for the driver, is silly. Teachers have guidelines and policies, doctors have guidelines and policies, police officers have guidelines and policies, why dont our childrens bus drivers have guidelines and policies to follow also? So when all is said and done there has still been no disciplinary action taken against this bus driver for touching my daughter, for searching our children everyday, and for her driving unsafely while our children are on board. What are we as concerned parents to do…. I have several other families I have talked to about this and they have also had formal complaints made but once they seem to hit the bus drivers super, the end up who knows where??? because there is no record of any of the complaints on file?????? What is going on? How can i persue along with other parents to get this matter taken care of , we are tired of th issue being brushed under the rug!!!!!!! We want to see guidelines and policies in effect for our bus drivers and we as parents think there have been enough formal complaints to have this bus driver removed, and they are not Union in NC, so what the hold up.. Any ideas how to us help ?????
