Open Question: Why does IMessage use 3G when IPhone 3GS and other phones was called text message and it was apart of my plan?
I am unsure why Iphone 4S uses a data plan for text messages calling them IMessages now. It is quite frustrating that I have to pay for texts on my plan and then have to use my dataplan as well. If you turn off the Cellular Data on the phone to save battery power you can’t even receive texts. Any suggestions?

Open Question: Can US cellular turn off my WiFi connectivity from not paying the bill?
I haven’t been able to afford my phone bill, but I want to use my wifi on it. I’m able to connect to the router, and I get a signal from it, but I’m unable to use the browser, market, or anything like that. I was able to before, but as of yesterday, its been buggy, but now it won’t connect at all.

Is it possible if i buy an unlocked iphone 4s from apple, then put in my at&t sim card and use it without having to pay a cellular data plan. i have an ipod touch 4g and an Lg phone, but i hate carrying both around. Open Question: How can I activate my iPhone 4s without a SIM card?
I purchased an iPhone 4S that appears to be locked to the Vodafone Network (overseas cellular provider). I restored the phone to it’s factory default settings shortly after receiving it and after the first 3 or 4 screens, it checks the SIM card and says that it is either not valid (when I have one in there) or says that the SIM card is not installed (when there isn’t one in there). It also says the same thing in iTunes. I have tried using a Verizon Wireless SIM card, a Simple Mobile SIM card, a T-Mobile SIM card, and a phone book SIM card to activate my iPhone and none of them seems to work. I have researched this issue on Google and the phone book SIM card method only seems to work on the iPhone 4, not the iPhone 4s. I have purchased a Vodafone SIM card from overseas and I am waiting for it to get here. All of the SIM cards are micro SIM cards except for the T-Mobile SIM card and phone book SIM card which were cut down to the size of the micro SIM cards. My question is this, is there any definitive ways to activate the iPhone 4S without a SIM card or am I screwed?

I currently have my At&t iPhone4, which is NOT unlocked, on an At&t GoPhone plan. I had it done at the At&t store. The represinitive put a new 3g micro sim in it and typed a few things into his computer. I pay $25 a month for their unlimited text and 250 anytime minutes. I am aware that I cannot use the data in the $50 unlimited GoPhone plan but….
   If I buy the $20 200mb data package will i be able to use my phone for small data usage??.. (since i’m buying a specific data package)  I could turn my cellular data on/off as needed from my settings menu so i do not plan on going over. I only plan to use the data for weather and google maps. I have wifi at my house for web browsing. I do not wish to jailbreak my iPhone. I am willing to change my apn if that is a posiblity. Any input will be greatly appreciated! Please help!

Open Question: I can’t call or text unless 3g is turned on ?
For you jailbreaking/unlocking gurus out there.. I jailbroke and successfully unlocked my iphone 3gs running on ios 5.0.1 using absinthe to jailbreak and using ultrasnow through cydia to unlock.

Basically the problem is, if 3g is turned off in my settings, then I cannot use it to make calls or text. It will say “Searching” or “no service” in the status bar. But if i turn on 3g, then I have service and it recognizes the carrier and I can make calls and receive texts.

But having 3g on all the time drains my battery insanely rapidly, and I fear it might impact my cellphone bill somehow (even though in my settings I have Cellular Data turned off).

Any ideas? I shouldn’t have to be constantly on 3g for me to use the phone right?

Open Question: why don’t cellular phone companies make optional phones designed for talking while driving?
i don’t mean those silly bluetooth things, i mean something that’s designed like a cb radio. i find it unfair that those with cb radios can easily pick up the cb radio and talk while they’re driving with minimal risk while driving, but that phone companies don’t have something along that design for others. the keypad in cellular phones is so tiny that sometimes your fingers can’t press other buttons without accidentally pressing something else. they make cellular phones car unfriendly.
instead of designing the same type of useless cellular phone for driving, they should’ve designed something better by now.

cellular phones carry a desire and expectation of being able to talk while you’re out and about and that includes being behind the wheel while you’re driving.
cellular phone companies should design something for driving.

oh yeah, and it’s hypocritical for them to design and sell chargers that charge in a vehicle, and then for others to say they can’t use the cellular phone while driving.
maybe if they never sold cellular phone chargers that charge in a vehicle, maybe there wouldn’t be so much useage of cellular phones while driving.
oh, and the hassle that comes with squeezing the sides of a cellular phone prong together just to charge it and then to pull it out and just the hassle of sticking it in there rather than it being a recessed fitting like with cordless phone landlines, its no wonder cellular phones always run out of power, because it’s a hassle just to charge them.

Hi, I recently purchased an iPhone4 from Verizon Wireless, and I noticed that my 3G wasn’t working and the only way for me to use safari was to use it via wifi. My phone says that the 3G is on and I go to Settings>General>Network and it says Cellular Data is on. I don’t know what could be wrong. I tried restarting my iPhone numerous times and it still won’t work. Also, when I try to use safari with the 3G, it says “Could not activate cellular data network” Help!

Open Question: Can cell networks tell if you are using a ’smartphone’ or a non-smartphone?
I’m not completely sure about the technical difference, but most American wireless providers charge different amounts of money for data on such phones. The reason I ask, is I put a SIM card from a non-smartphone AT&T phone in my smartphone from a small local carrier (the smartphone is unlocked). I didn’t use data because the AT&T phone doesn’t have a data plan. But calls worked fine (the other carrier had no service where I was). My question is, would data work if I tried (it was a borrowed phone, so I didn’t want my friend to rack up charges)? And, would it be sold to me at the non-smartphone rate? Would the AT&T notice excessive data usage? As far as I know, there is no prohibition in the contract from using an AT&T SIM in your own phone not purchased through AT&T. I’m just curious as to how this works. For the time being I still have a contract, so will continue with the local cell provider (Cellular ONE)

Open Question: iPhone 3 on PAYG O2 eats my credit?
I keep getting a message pop up everyday which basically says I’ve used £1 of credit and will not be charged again today for internet usage.

I want to set the phone so that it doesn’t eat my credit, and I can only access internet apps (such as eBay, Facebook) when I am at home, where I have wireless.

Even when I don’t access any web sites/apps, I get this message – maybe because my email is linked to the phone perhaps?

I’m not gadget literate so could do with any help that is easy for me to understand pretty please

Open Question: Using phone with a different company 10 pts!?
I got an android phone from element mobile and had a disagreement about them adding money to my bill. They turned off my phone. I no longer have anything to do with them therefore i don’t have a number. I was told that i can go to best buy or certain other retailers and buy minutes for this android and they will give me my own new number. Could someone tell me how this works, or if its even possible. Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks
I called us cellular today and they said they couldnt do it. Boost mobile also said the same thing… can i use this phone with any other company besides ELEMENT MOBILE?

Open Question: Can I use an iPhone 3G for AT&T without purchasing a data plan if I turn “cellular data” off?
I just purchased an iPhone on eBay under the impression I could use it as a phone without buying a data plan if I just turned off the cellular data. However, when I asked an AT&T agent via the online chat support, the woman told me that once I inserted my sim into the phone, AT&T would select and charge me for a plan if I did not select one myself.
I’ve heard from several people that they will not charge if I turn cellular data off, but I’ve also heard from others that I will be charged. Does anyone have any experience with this matter?

Open Question: iPhone 4S help simcard help!!?
Ok, so im here in Hong Kong right now, and I plan to buy a 4S tomorrow, but my problem is, when i go back to the Philippines where im originally from, will my simcard still work? Or will i have to Jailbreak then Unlock the 4S for my PH simcard to work? Please i really need help on this before i buy the phone.

No worries on the micro sim, I have one, but the thingis im worried about the searching issues, will it be able to read my sun cellular simcard when i go back to the PH? Should i jailbreak then unlock it first so the sun cellular simcard can be used. Or will the iPhone work with ANY simcard be it from any country?

Please! anyone, help!

Open Question: Problem with iPhone 3G, please help.?
I just got an iPhone 3G (it was used, but in really good condition) but I can’t get any internet connection without Wi-Fi. It says “Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service”. Well, I DO in fact have a data plan and when I turn the Wi-Fi off, it says I have 3G so I don’t think it’s like a satellite issue or anything. Also, I’ve paid my phone bill. On top of that, I just put my Sim card back in my old Android phone and the mobile internet worked fine. Do you think it could be a problem with my phone, or is there something I need to do to the iPhone to turn the mobile internet on and make it work? I’m really new to the iPhone! Thank you!

Open Question: Does anyone have a Galaxy S2 from TMobile? Or have the limited 3g data or whatevery its called?
I’m thinking about getting a Galaxy S2, has anyone had any problems with it at all?
also, I’m switching companies because I switched states and they don’t have US Cellular in Colorado so I’m use to having unlimited data but the plan I would have with T Mobile only gives me 2 or 3 gigs or whatever it’s called. I use the internet on my phone CONSTANTLY, is 2 or 3 gigs a lot or will I run out early?

Open Question: How come my 3G network is not working on my phone?
I have the Motorola Electrify and just recently the 3G icon at the top of my phone only lights up grey but should light up blue. Whenever I try to use any apps like Facebook or Twitter it won’t load. I’ve gone into settings and checked that my Wi-FI was checked, Open Network was checked. And Secure Network is checked. After all this the 3G icon at the top is still grey and it should be blue if its working. Whats going on? PLEASE HELP or i’m gunna have to go up and talk to US Cellular ugh!
I don’t look at porn on my phone lol…nice try.

Open Question: Poll-Should I let my apple ipad 2 run out of battery life before charging it or should I go ahead &?
My dad got me my first apple Ipad 2 and it cost $730 and it is my favorite electronic ever and I enjoy using it and stuff and my battery percentage is 21 percent and I am not sure if I should go ahead and charge it or wait till it is out of power and then wait a couple of hours before charging it,my dad doesn’t even have to pay a bill because he didn’t create a cellular data account,I only use the wifi we have to access internet on it.

I do have an iphone 4 that I have had since late February 2011 and I find that I use the phone more than I do the ipad,I have not even got a case or stand for the ipad.But I will get all of those.
