Open Question: Will any prepaid cellphones work on a Princess cruise?
We are scheduled for a Hawaiian cruise on Princess with our autistic 12 yr old son in a few months. There will be times when he is involved in kids’ activities while we’re on another part of the ship, but we want him to be able to contact us and vice-versa. Walkie-talkies are clunky, non-duplex, not very private and aren’t guaranteed to work across ship through so much steel. We thought cellphones would be perfect, but only need it for 2 wks or so. These ships have cellular systems now and allow use of phones on most major carriers via roaming. I know Tracfones don’t work. Does anyone have personal experience with another prepaid phone on a recent Princess cruise?
Walkie talkies will be difficult for my son to use. Hard to explain but it has to do with his autism.
To clarify: It’s not true that cell phones only work in port. Princess (and most other cruise lines) outfit their ships with cell transceivers. Your phone will have to roam but it will work. I am specifically interested in finding a PREPAID phone that will work. Thanks.
